Eyelids Surgery or Blepharoplasty

Eyelids surgery or blepharoplasty will improve the appearance of superior and/or inferior eyelids.  This surgery provides an improvement in the area around the eyes making the eyes look young and rested. In addition to the removal of excess skin and fat pads, this procedure can also treat local muscle flaccidity. It is very important to inform the surgeon during your consultation the existence of any eye disease, such as dry eye, glaucoma, thyroid dysfunction (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism), circulatory problems as high blood pressure, or the use of anticoagulants.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. Incisions are placed within the natural lines of the eyelids and may be extended, when necessary, to the external portion of the eyes out to the fine wrinkles or “crows feet”. The final results may be seen after a few weeks, but the complete healing process can last up to one year.
