Breast augmentation using silicone implants is one of the most performed esthetics procedures in the world. Patients who have hypomasty (small breasts),which can be a result of insufficient development of the breasts or mammary glandular atrophy, can enhance their look with the proper proceedure. It is also possible to correct breast asymmetries or even to elevate the breast when sagging occurs or there needs to be a skin reduction.
The introduction of the implant can be made by three different pathways (incisions): the inframammary crease, the areola, and the axilla. The implant can be placed in the retromuscular, subfascial or subglandular position; it can also have a round or anatomical shape (type “drop”). The Plastic Surgeon will consult with each patient on the particular implant placement or prostheses formats that best suits the patients body type.
